Longtime Orlando-area journalist sets final on-air date for late January 2026

WKMG-TV (News 6) anchor-reporter Justin Warmoth is preparing to sign off after a 13-year run at the Orlando CBS affiliate, capping a career that began at the station in 2013 and kept him in the region he calls home.

The station confirmed Warmoth’s final day on-air is scheduled for Jan. 30, 2026. Warmoth said he and his family plan to remain in Central Florida while he transitions into a new career outside his current role.

From bureau reporting to the anchor desk

Warmoth joined WKMG as a 22-year-old journalist in 2013 and initially worked as the Brevard County bureau reporter. Over time, his assignments expanded to include Orange County and cities such as Apopka, reflecting a broader field reporting portfolio across the station’s coverage footprint.

Warmoth grew up in Seminole and Orange counties, a local background that shaped his reporting identity and on-air presence, the station said, as he moved between field coverage and work on the anchor desk.

Major stories and community moments

During his tenure, Warmoth reported through hurricanes and high-impact breaking news events, including coverage connected to the Pulse nightclub tragedy. The station also highlighted feature and community-centered reporting, including travel coverage following the Lake Mary Little League team during its championship run.

In a message reflecting on his time in local television news, Warmoth said he was grateful for the opportunity WKMG provided early in his career and thanked viewers for trusting him with their stories. He also expressed appreciation for colleagues who supported and challenged him professionally over more than a decade in the newsroom.

“For the last 13 years, I’ve had the privilege of working as a journalist in my hometown,” Warmoth said in a statement provided by the station.

A familiar Central Florida news name

Warmoth’s departure also underscores a family connection familiar to many local viewers. He is the son of Greg Warmoth, a longtime anchor in the Central Florida television news market.

Station leadership credited Justin Warmoth with bringing a “thoughtful and caring” approach to the stories he covered and said the newsroom considers him part of its long-term legacy in the region.
