What guests should expect in February 2026

Universal Orlando Resort has scheduled a series of attraction downtimes across its theme parks in February 2026, with seven separate closures affecting dates that range from a single day to month-long unavailability. The interruptions span Epic Universe, Universal Studios Florida, and Universal Islands of Adventure, and include both routine short-term maintenance and an extended refurbishment already underway.

Epic Universe: one-week refurbishment

  • Fyre Drill: scheduled to be temporarily closed Feb. 1–7, 2026.

The closure marks one of the earliest announced refurbishments at Epic Universe since the park opened in May 2025. Water-based attractions are frequently taken offline during cooler periods, when demand is typically lower and maintenance windows can be scheduled with less operational impact.

Islands of Adventure: long-term Jurassic Park closure continues

  • Jurassic Park River Adventure: closed starting Jan. 5, 2026, with a reopening date listed for Nov. 20, 2026.

This is the most consequential downtime on the February calendar because it removes a major headline attraction for most of the year. The project has been described as planned maintenance, and Universal has not publicly detailed specific changes. The attraction’s reopening date is listed in official scheduling platforms, and guests planning a 2026 visit should factor the long refurbishment into park-day priorities.

Resort-wide impact: Hogwarts Express scheduled closure

  • Hogwarts Express: scheduled to be closed Feb. 9–23, 2026, affecting travel between Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure.

Unlike most attractions, the Hogwarts Express also functions as in-resort transportation for park-to-park ticket holders. During the closure window, guests moving between the two parks must exit to CityWalk and re-enter through the front gates, which can add time and increase congestion at park entrances during peak periods.

Universal Studios Florida: two additional closures inside the park

  • Revenge of the Mummy: scheduled to be closed through Feb. 2, 2026 after a late-January start.

  • Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast: scheduled to be closed Feb. 5, 2026 (one day).

Revenge of the Mummy’s downtime is brief compared with major refurbishments and aligns with the kinds of short closures commonly used for maintenance and inspection cycles. Villain-Con Minion Blast’s one-day closure is unusually short and could reflect routine technical work or operations planning.

Operational calendars can change, and reopening dates may shift based on maintenance findings, parts availability, and testing requirements.

Planning considerations for February visits

February is a period when theme parks often schedule maintenance ahead of spring break crowds. Guests with limited time may want to build itineraries around the remaining high-demand attractions, account for longer walking transfers during the Hogwarts Express closure window, and re-check park hours and attraction status close to their visit date.
