Interstate 4 and Highway Alerts

Commuters heading through the heart of Orlando this morning should prepare for significant overnight and early morning ramp adjustments. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) continues its work on the State Road 408 interchange. Motorists should note that the eastbound S.R. 408 exit ramp to eastbound I-4 (Exit 10B) is subject to overnight closures through Wednesday. If you are traveling during the very early hours, follow the posted detours toward the downtown exits.

Further south near the tourism corridor, nightly closures are affecting the I-4 westbound on-ramp from World Drive. This closure, which runs from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., is expected to continue through mid-March for essential drainage and shoulder work. Drivers leaving the Disney area late tonight should utilize U.S. 192 as an alternate route to access I-4 Westbound. Additionally, the westbound I-4 exit to eastbound S.R. 528 (Exit 72) and the Central Florida Parkway underpass are seeing nightly closures between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., requiring detours through Daryl Carter Parkway and International Drive.

Downtown and Neighborhood Roadworks

Local drivers in the Colonialtown and North Orange areas will continue to navigate several long-term projects today. In positive news for morning commuters, several segments of Church Street that were closed for utility work are scheduled to reopen today, March 10, at 6:00 a.m., which should ease access near the stadium and downtown core.

  • Colonialtown: The intersection of North Fern Creek Avenue and Oregon Street remains closed for sewer rehabilitation. This closure is expected to conclude tomorrow, March 11.
  • North Orange: Brookhaven Drive remains closed near "The Yard at Brookhaven" project between Alden Road and Virginia Avenue.
  • Creative Village: Southbound Putnam Avenue remains closed between Amelia Street and Federal Street for ongoing construction through the fall.
  • Colonialtown North: Garden Plaza is currently closed from Weber Street to Illinois Street.

Public Transit: LYNX and SunRail

SunRail is operating on its standard Tuesday schedule today. Commuters are reminded that the old SunRail Alerts app has been retired; all real-time train status updates and delay notifications are now integrated into the SunRail Mobile Tickets app. Ensuring your app is updated is the best way to monitor for any minor freight-related delays on the corridor.

LYNX bus services are running normal weekday routes. However, transit users should be aware that the LYNX Board of Directors is currently reviewing a major service proposal for April 2026. While today’s service remains unchanged, upcoming adjustments are expected for several Link routes, including Link 311 and Link 407 in the Lake Nona area. Public workshops regarding these changes will be held throughout the month.

Commuter Strategy for Tuesday

With ongoing shoulder closures on I-4 between the South Street exit and the S.R. 408 off-ramp, please maintain caution and avoid distractions in the work zones. The eastbound I-4 entrance from S.R. 535 remains reduced to a single lane, which frequently causes bottlenecking during the evening rush hour. If you are traveling between the attractions and downtown, consider using Universal Boulevard or Turkey Lake Road as alternates during peak congestion.
