Traffic and Infrastructure Alerts

The City of Orlando has issued several traffic notices effective for Wednesday, February 18, 2026, to accommodate necessary infrastructure repairs and ongoing construction projects. Motorists are advised to plan for delays and follow all posted detours.

  • La Salle Avenue Closure: A full road closure is in effect today on La Salle Avenue between Weber Street and Marks Street in Colonialtown North. The closure is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to allow crews to perform sanitary sewer repair work. Access for local residents will be maintained, but through traffic should utilize alternate routes.
  • SR 408 to I-4 Ramp Closure: Beginning at 8:00 p.m. tonight, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will implement an overnight closure of the eastbound State Road 408 exit ramp to eastbound Interstate 4 at Exit 10B. This closure, required for concrete work, will remain in place until 6:00 a.m. Thursday. Drivers will be detoured to Exit 10A toward westbound I-4, then directed to exit at Michigan Street to reach the eastbound I-4 on-ramp.
  • Ongoing Roadwork: Long-term closures continue on Muriel Street between South Orange Avenue and Delaney Avenue, as well as at the intersection of Fern Creek Avenue and Oregon Street. Both areas remain closed through late February for the Fern Creek Improvement Project.

Public Meetings and Governance

The City of Orlando is hosting several official committee and board meetings today. These sessions are open to the public as part of the city’s commitment to transparency and community engagement.

  • Committee on Livability & Healthy Aging: An in-person meeting will be held today at City Hall to discuss initiatives for senior residents and community wellness.
  • International Drive Business Improvement District: The Governing Board is scheduled to meet to review ongoing development and safety projects within the I-Drive corridor.
  • Financial Oversight: Both the Firefighter’s Pension Board and the Investment Committee are holding sessions today to conduct regular reviews of city fund performance and fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Downtown Development: The Downtown Development Board/CRA Advisory Board will meet to discuss upcoming urban renewal projects and grant allocations for downtown businesses.

Public Health and Safety Advisories

Health officials and local law enforcement have issued the following advisories for residents and visitors:

  • Water Quality Caution: The Florida Department of Health in Orange County maintains a blue-green algae caution for Lake Gatlin (West Shore). Residents are advised to avoid swimming, boating, or using personal watercraft in areas where active blooms are visible, as these algae can produce toxins harmful to humans and pets.
  • Scam Alert: The Orange County Clerk of Courts and the Sheriff’s Office have issued a joint warning regarding a surge in jury duty scams. Official communications regarding jury service or missed court dates will never include requests for immediate payment via gift cards or wire transfers.

County Service Updates

Residents seeking county services today should note that the Passport and Records Office at the downtown Orlando Courthouse is currently undergoing renovations. While the office remains operational, passport services have been temporarily relocated to Room 350, and records services are now being handled in Room 210.
