Public Notice Roundup: Weekend Traffic Advisories and Community Health Updates

Official City Notices for Saturday, March 14, 2026
As part of our commitment to keeping the residents of Orlando informed, the following official public notices, health advisories, and service announcements are active for Saturday, March 14, 2026. Residents are encouraged to review these updates to ensure they are prepared for local road closures and aware of current environmental health conditions.
Public Health Advisory: Blue-Green Algae
The Florida Department of Health in Orange County (DOH-Orange) has issued a formal health caution regarding the presence of blue-green algae in Lake Conway, specifically near the St. Regis Place area. Official sampling has detected the presence of algae toxins, which can be harmful to humans and pets. Residents and visitors are advised to take the following precautions:
- Avoid swimming, boating, or water-skiing in areas where active blooms are visible.
- Do not drink lake water; boiling the water does not remove the toxins.
- Keep pets and livestock away from the shoreline to prevent accidental ingestion.
- Wash skin and clothing thoroughly with soap and water if you come into contact with the water.
Traffic and Road Closure Alerts
Several significant road closures and construction projects will impact travel throughout the city this weekend. Please plan for additional travel time if your route includes the following areas:
- Osceola Circle: Closed starting at 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, to accommodate the "Walk to Defeat ALS." Motorists should expect increased pedestrian traffic near the Camping World Stadium area.
- State Road 429 (Western Beltway): The Central Florida Expressway Authority is concluding a week-long series of nightly bridge beam installations. Northbound S.R. 429 from Schofield Road to New Independence Parkway will be closed from 9:00 p.m. Saturday through 6:00 a.m. Sunday. Southbound lanes will also face closures at Schofield Road starting at 10:00 p.m.
- Magnolia Avenue: Full closure remains in effect between Livingston Street and Jefferson Street for the ongoing Magnolia Avenue Improvement Project. This work is scheduled to continue through March 24.
- Summerlin Avenue: Construction continues at the intersection of Livingston Street. Through traffic is being detoured via Ridgewood Street until further notice.
Upcoming City Council and Public Governance
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Orlando City Council will take place on Monday, March 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at City Hall. Residents wishing to provide public comment on agenda items must submit a written request to the City Clerk’s Office by 9:00 a.m. on the day of the meeting.
Additionally, following the March 13 deadline for pre-applications for the 2026 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding, the city has transitioned to the final application phase. Organizations that met the initial deadline have until March 27 to submit their completed documentation for public service and facility improvement grants.
