Official City Committee Meetings

The City of Orlando has several official committee and board meetings scheduled for Tuesday, March 10, 2026. These meetings are vital for local governance and provide opportunities for public oversight on various municipal projects. Residents should note the following sessions:

  • DTO Façade Program Grant Review Committee: This meeting has been rescheduled to today and will be held virtually. The committee reviews applications for grants aimed at improving the aesthetics of downtown storefronts.
  • Public Art Advisory Board: A hybrid meeting is scheduled to discuss upcoming installations and the maintenance of the city's public art collection.
  • EDV Small Business Façade Committee: This virtual session will focus on small business support initiatives within the city's economic development zones.

Please note that the Budget Review Committee meeting originally scheduled for today has been canceled. The next full meeting of the Orlando City Council is slated for Monday, March 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.

Traffic and Road Construction Alerts

Significant roadwork and infrastructure projects are impacting traffic flow throughout the city this week. Motorists are advised to plan for extra travel time or use alternate routes for the following active closures:

  • Magnolia Avenue: A full closure remains in effect between Livingston Street and Jefferson Street for the Magnolia Avenue Improvement Project. This work is expected to continue through March 24.
  • Fern Creek Avenue: As part of the Colonialtown Phase II Drainage Project, Fern Creek Avenue is closed between Lake Highland Avenue and Canton Street. This specific phase of the drainage improvement is scheduled for completion by March 11.
  • I-4 Nightly Closures: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is conducting nightly barrier wall installations on the I-4 eastbound off-ramp to S.R. 417 and World Drive (Exit 62). Closures occur from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. and are expected to last through late March.
  • ChampionsGate Boulevard: Overnight closures of C.R. 532 under Interstate 4 continue through March 17 to facilitate bridge work and soil hauling.

Health Advisories and Community Announcements

The Florida Department of Health in Orange County (DOH-Orange) maintains an active health caution regarding the presence of blue-green algae in Lake Gatlin (West Shore). Residents and visitors are urged to avoid swimming, boating, or allowing pets to come into contact with the water in areas where blooms are visible.

Additionally, the City of Orlando reminds local non-profit organizations that the pre-application deadline for Program Year 2026 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding is Friday, March 13, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. These grants support essential public services and facility improvements for low- and moderate-income residents.
