Official City Notice Roundup: Wednesday, February 25, 2026

The City of Orlando has issued several public service announcements and official notices regarding infrastructure improvements, public meetings, and health advisories active for Wednesday, February 25, 2026. Residents and commuters are encouraged to review these updates to minimize travel disruptions and remain informed on local governance.

Infrastructure and Road Closures

New construction projects and ongoing utility work will impact traffic flow in several districts starting today. Notable closures include:

  • Coastline Drive: A full closure is in effect between Dardanelle Drive and Silver Star Road starting at 4:00 a.m. today for the installation of critical storm drains and related structures.
  • Rollin Street: Access is restricted between Dade Avenue and Orange Avenue beginning at 5:00 a.m. This closure supports ongoing construction at the Advent Health Cancer Center.
  • Summerlin Avenue: Long-term closures continue between Hillcrest Street and Colonial Drive. The intersection at Hillcrest Street remains closed as part of the Summerlin Avenue Improvement Project, with detours directed toward Hyer Avenue and Concord Street.
  • Colonialtown North: Utility work continues at the intersection of North Fern Creek Avenue and Oregon Street, as well as on Muriel Street between South Orange Avenue and Delaney Avenue. Both projects are slated for completion by the end of the month.

Public Meetings and Governance

Official boards and committees have the following updates for today’s schedule:

  • Harry P. Leu Gardens Board of Trustees: A virtual meeting is scheduled for today to discuss botanical garden operations and upcoming community programming.
  • Risk Management Committee: The meeting originally scheduled for today, February 25, has been officially canceled.
  • RFP Committee Meeting: The first committee meeting for RFP26-0032 has been rescheduled; participants should check the official city calendar for the revised date and time.

Health Advisory: Blue-Green Algae

The Florida Department of Health in Orange County maintains a health alert for the presence of harmful blue-green algae toxins in Lake Killarney. Residents are advised to avoid swimming, wading, or using personal watercraft in areas where algae blooms are visible. Ensure that pets and livestock do not drink or come into contact with the lake water until the alert is lifted.

Parks and Community Events

A special event notice has been issued for Luminary Green Park today. The "2026 Barbecue in the Park" is authorized to take place from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The event includes the use of temporary structures and amplified sound. Visitors to the Creative Village area should expect increased pedestrian activity and limited parking near the park grounds.
