Traffic Outlook for Sunday, January 25, 2026

Good morning, Orlando. As we move into the final week of January, commuters should prepare for significant overnight work on our major expressways and remain aware of the sweeping public transit changes that went into effect earlier this month. While Sunday morning travel across Central Florida remains light and free-flowing, several key infrastructure projects will impact your late-night return and the start of the Monday morning commute.

Major Overnight Ramp and Lane Closures

The Florida Department of Transportation has announced a critical overnight closure beginning tonight, Sunday, January 25. Starting at 8 p.m., the eastbound State Road 408 exit ramp to eastbound Interstate 4 (Exit 10B) will be closed to all traffic. This closure is necessary for crews to install temporary barrier walls and apply new pavement markings as part of the downtown connectivity project. The ramp is expected to remain closed until 6 a.m. Monday morning.

  • State Road 434: Drivers should expect alternating single lane closures in both directions between Slade Drive and Talmo Street starting at 8 p.m. tonight. Crews will be installing thermoplastic striping through the overnight hours.
  • SR 401 Bridge: Bridge rehabilitation work continues at Port Canaveral. Southbound SR 401 traffic intending to reach westbound SR 528 is being detoured via the access road on the west side of the bridge.
  • U.S. 441 (Orange Blossom Trail): Continuous northbound lane closures remain in effect from Beggs Road to the SR 414 ramps. This section is reduced to a single lane through the spring for utility and excavation work.

Public Transportation and LYNX Alerts

Commuters utilizing public transit must stay informed regarding the massive LYNX service overhaul that was implemented just two weeks ago. Several long-standing routes have been discontinued or restructured to align with the new Pine Hills Transfer Center operations.

  • Service Reductions: Links 34, 45, 46E, 46W, 103, and 434 have been discontinued. Additionally, NeighborLink routes 822 and 851 are no longer in operation.
  • Major Route Adjustments: Significant schedule and path changes remain in place for Links 1, 23, 102, 436N, and 436S. Commuters should verify their specific stop locations as many have been relocated due to recent construction.
  • SunRail Service: The "Winter Express" evening schedule remains active. The final northbound train is scheduled to depart the Poinciana station at 8:45 p.m., with the final southbound departure from DeLand at 9:55 p.m.

Local Roadway Reopenings

In a bit of welcome news for West Orange County, East Crown Point Road in Winter Garden has fully reopened following months of intensive repairs to the underlying drainage systems. This reopening restores a vital connection for local residents and helps ease congestion on nearby alternate routes. However, downtown travelers should continue to avoid Summerlin Avenue between Livingston Street and Ridgewood Street, as the Summerlin Improvement Project continues to hold that corridor closed through mid-February.
