Critical Overnight Ramp Closures at SR 408 and I-4

Orlando commuters should prepare for significant disruptions during the late-night hours as the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) concludes a series of scheduled ramp closures. Tonight, Wednesday, March 4, 2026, the eastbound State Road (SR) 408 exit ramp to eastbound Interstate 4 (I-4) at Exit 10B will be closed from 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. tomorrow morning.

This closure is necessary for essential concrete work on the interchange. Motorists traveling eastbound on SR 408 who need to access eastbound I-4 are advised to follow the posted detour. The recommended route involves taking Exit 10A toward westbound I-4, proceeding to Exit 81 (Michigan Street), making a left onto West Michigan Street, and following signs to re-enter eastbound I-4. Additionally, commuters should expect daily shoulder closures from the South Street exit to the SR 408 off-ramp between 6:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. through the spring.

Ongoing Construction and Lane Reductions

Beyond the major interchange work, several other arterial roads in the Orlando area are experiencing long-term construction impacts today:

  • US 441 (Orange Blossom Trail): Northbound lanes are reduced to a single lane from Beggs Road to north of the SR 414 ramps. This continuous closure is expected to remain in place through April 2026 to accommodate utility installations and excavation.
  • Sand Lake Road & I-4: The Diverging Diamond construction project continues to impact traffic patterns at the SR 482 interchange. Drivers should expect intermittent delays and lane shifts, particularly during the morning and evening rush hours.
  • Pine Hills Road: Intermittent lane closures are scheduled today at the intersections of North Pine Hills Road with Clarcona Road and Beggs Road for drill shaft work, occurring between 8:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Public Transit: LYNX and SunRail Alerts

Public transportation users should be aware of several service adjustments impacting Central Florida routes today. LYNX continues to operate with a detour on the LYMMO Orange Line due to construction on Magnolia Avenue. Riders on Links 1, 9, 43, and 102 should also note that several bus stops have been relocated or changed due to ongoing roadwork in the Winter Park and Maitland areas.

For those traveling into Seminole County, remember that traditional fixed-route bus service has been largely replaced by the "Scout" on-demand van service. SunRail remains a viable alternative for commuters, operating its expanded "Winter Express" schedule today, which includes additional late-night service options for those attending events or working late shifts in the downtown core.

Commuters are urged to exercise caution and allow for extra travel time when navigating these construction zones. As schedules are subject to change due to weather or unforeseen conditions, staying informed via local traffic apps is highly recommended.
