Arrest follows reported break-in attempt and gunfire at Orlando apartment

Orlando police arrested an 18-year-old Apopka resident after an alleged armed home invasion at an apartment on Cinderlane Parkway, an incident that investigators say included a forced entry, demands for money and the sound of multiple gunshots.

The arrest was announced Thursday, February 5, 2026. Police said the incident was reported the previous evening, Wednesday, February 4, around 7 p.m., when officers responded to a call about a shooting at the apartment complex.

What investigators say happened inside the apartment

In a sworn arrest affidavit, investigators described a group of armed men arriving by vehicle and attempting to enter an apartment earlier in the evening. Police said one suspect, described as wearing a black coat and a ski mask, forced his way inside.

Two women inside the apartment ran from the scene. One told investigators she heard about three gunshots as she was fleeing. Police said the women ran to a nearby 7‑Eleven, where one of them called 911.

Investigators wrote that a victim in the apartment was asked “where the money was,” then taken to a safe that was empty.

Police said the victim was struck in the back of the head with what appeared to be a firearm and lost consciousness.

Suspect identified and booked without bond

Police identified the arrested suspect as Kamilo Antonio Marrero, 18. Investigators said he was located later at his home in Apopka and taken into custody.

Marrero was booked into the Orange County Jail and is facing a charge of home invasion robbery with a firearm. Police said he was being held without bond.

Injuries and unanswered questions

Police said no injuries were reported during the home invasion. The affidavit’s account of a victim being struck and knocked unconscious suggests investigators documented an assault, but police did not report injuries in their public statement.

Authorities have not released details about possible additional suspects, the nature of any gunfire inside the apartment, whether a firearm was recovered, or what prompted the group to target that unit. Police also have not disclosed whether any property was taken.
