Traffic Advisories and Construction Road Closures
The City of Orlando and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) are reporting several active road closures and lane shifts that may impact your commute on March 12. Drivers are advised to use caution and allow extra travel time in the following areas:
- Orange Blossom Trail (U.S. 441): Expect intermittent single-lane closures north of Shader Road between 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. for ongoing road widening work. This phase of the project is scheduled to conclude today.
- Brookhaven Drive: This roadway remains closed from Alden Road to just east of the current construction project. This closure is part of a long-term infrastructure project and is expected to remain in place through early 2027.
- Putnam Avenue: Southbound Putnam Avenue is closed between Amelia Street and Federal Street. This closure is related to the Beacon at Creative Village development and will continue through September 2026.
- Garden Plaza: Road closures are active on Garden Plaza from Weber Street to Illinois Street as part of neighborhood improvement efforts in Colonialtown North.
Community Reminders and Funding Deadlines
The City of Orlando Housing and Community Development Department reminds non-profit organizations that the pre-application deadline for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding is Friday, March 13, 2026. Organizations seeking to fund infrastructure or public facility improvements should ensure their submissions are finalized by the deadline.
Additionally, MetroPlan Orlando is currently conducting its Regional Transportation Survey. Residents are invited to share their experiences and opinions on safety, public transit, and technology across Orange County. The survey will remain open through April 10, 2026.
