Orange County Leadership Hosts Official Open House and Career Fair Today

Orlando and Orange County residents have a significant opportunity to engage with their local government today, Saturday, January 24, 2026. Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings is hosting a comprehensive Open House and Job Fair at the Orange County Administration Center in downtown Orlando. The event, which runs from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., is designed to provide unprecedented access to the inner workings of the county government and its leadership.

Public Engagement at the County Administration Center

The centerpiece of today's activities is the rare opportunity for the public to tour the offices of the Mayor and the Board of County Commissioners. Located at 201 South Rosalind Avenue, the Administration Center is opening its doors to allow residents to meet directly with Mayor Demings and members of the Board of Commissioners. This interactive session serves as a major public outreach initiative aimed at increasing transparency and fostering direct communication between elected officials and the community they serve.

Attendees can participate in the following activities during the session:

  • Direct meet-and-greet opportunities with Mayor Jerry Demings and all seven members of the Board of County Commissioners.
  • Guided tours of the official executive suites and the legislative chambers where policy decisions are made.
  • Engagement with representatives from 30 different county departments through interactive educational booths.
  • In-depth information sessions regarding public services, sustainability efforts, and ongoing county infrastructure projects.

Career Opportunities and Departmental Recruitment

Running concurrently with the open house is an official government job fair. Orange County Human Resources staff are on-site to assist residents in navigating current employment openings within the county workforce. As the local government continues to adapt to the region's rapid growth, the county is actively recruiting for various roles to maintain essential public services. The recruitment area allows applicants to learn about career paths in public safety, public works, administrative services, and emergency management.

City of Orlando: MLK Youth Humanitarian Honors

While the county focuses on administrative outreach, the City of Orlando is highlighting civic leadership through the Mayor's Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission. Tonight at 7:00 p.m., Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer is scheduled to lead a special recognition ceremony at the Kia Center during the game between the Orlando Magic and the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Mayor will officially present the 2026 MLK Youth Humanitarian Awards to local students who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to service and social justice in the spirit of Dr. King.

Earlier today, the city also sponsored a community-wide volunteer effort as part of the MLK Day of Service. Government-led cleanup crews gathered at Lake Lorna Doone to participate in beautification projects, highlighting the administration's focus on neighborhood revitalization and environmental stewardship.
