Commissioners Convene for Major Policy Decisions

The Orange County Board of County Commissioners is scheduled to meet today, Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at the County Administration Center in downtown Orlando. The session, which begins at 9:00 a.m., includes a robust agenda featuring significant investments in the local film industry, public transportation infrastructure, and social services. Mayor Jerry L. Demings will preside over the meeting as the board considers several high-stakes items aimed at long-term regional growth.

Revitalizing the Local Film Industry

One of the most anticipated items on today’s agenda is the formal adoption of policies and procedures for the new Film Incentive Program. Following a resolution passed late last year, the board is expected to finalize the standard operating procedures for this five-year initiative. Funded through Tourist Development Tax (TDT) dollars, the program is designed to attract major film and television productions back to Central Florida. Supporters of the measure argue that the incentives will not only create high-wage jobs for local crew members but also provide a significant boost to the tourism sector through increased global visibility.

Federal Grants for Mobility Hubs

The board will also vote on the approval of a $271,000 federal Community Project Funding Grant provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. This funding is earmarked for the development of "mobility hubs" in partnership with LYNX and Orange County Public Schools. These hubs are intended to serve as centralized locations providing safe and reliable access to multiple modes of transportation, including walking, biking, and transit services. Specifically, the project focuses on the LYNX Pine Hills Transfer Center and the Orange Technical College South Campus, representing a critical step in the county’s commitment to sustainable urban mobility.

Addressing Homelessness and Social Services

Social resilience remains a primary focus of today's session. Commissioners are set to review the allocation of Disaster Recovery funding to six community organizations. This funding is intended to expand outreach for individuals experiencing homelessness and to increase regional access to mental health services. Additionally, the board will discuss a potential new zoning ordinance. Requested by District 1 Commissioner Nicole Wilson, the proposal explores creating specific parking accommodations for buses and trailers used by homeless shelters and transitional service providers, aiming to provide more flexible solutions for temporary housing.

City of Orlando Budget Review

While the Orange County Board meets in person, the City of Orlando is also conducting official business today through its Budget Review Committee. This virtual meeting will focus on departmental fiscal updates following the City Council’s regular session held yesterday. These meetings provide the necessary oversight for municipal spending as the city prepares for the upcoming fiscal cycle.
