Public Notice: March 9th Updates on City Infrastructure and Community Planning

The City of Orlando has released the following official notices and public service announcements for Monday, March 9, 2026. Residents and business owners are encouraged to review these updates regarding committee sessions, ongoing infrastructure improvements, and community development deadlines.

Official Committee Meetings and Workshops

Two significant city committees are scheduled to meet today, Monday, March 9. These sessions are part of the city’s commitment to transparency and administrative oversight in specialized municipal sectors:

  • Firefighter Cancer Claims Committee: This committee will hold a virtual meeting today to review pending administrative claims. Members of the public who wish to observe the proceedings can access the virtual meeting link via the City’s official calendar on the municipal website.
  • Selection Committee for RFP26-0004: The first committee meeting for the procurement of Health Plan Administrative Services (RFP26-0004) will take place in person at City Hall in the Veterans Conference Room. This meeting is dedicated to the initial review and ranking of proposals submitted by various vendors.

Road Closures and Traffic Advisories

Several major construction projects affecting local transit reach key milestones this week. Motorists should plan for increased travel times in the following areas:

  • Fern Creek Avenue: The intersection of North Fern Creek Avenue and Oregon Street in Colonialtown remains closed for essential infrastructure upgrades. This specific construction phase is scheduled to conclude by Wednesday, March 11. Motorists are advised to continue using the posted detours until the intersection is reopened to through traffic.
  • I-95 Ramp Closures: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has issued a traffic advisory for overnight ramp closures at the I-95 interchanges for Fiske Boulevard and Wickham Road starting tonight, March 9, and running through March 14. These closures are necessary for pavement maintenance and will occur between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. nightly.
  • I-4 Entrance Ramp: The eastbound I-4 entrance ramp from S.R. 535 remains reduced to a single lane as part of the multi-year widening project. This configuration is expected to remain in place through the upcoming summer season.

Community Development and Grant Deadlines

The City of Orlando’s Housing and Community Development Department reminds non-profit organizations and eligible residents of upcoming deadlines for federal grant programs:

  • CDBG Funding: The pre-application deadline for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) is Friday, March 13, 2026. These funds are vital for programs supporting low-to-moderate-income residents and neighborhood revitalization projects.
  • Lake Davis Apartments Renovation: Following the public notice period that concluded earlier this month, the city is moving forward with the $429,000 renovation project at the Lake Davis Apartments. This includes roof repairs and HVAC upgrades to maintain affordable housing standards.

Looking Ahead

While committee meetings are active today, the next regular meeting of the Orlando City Council is officially scheduled for Monday, March 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. Agenda items for the upcoming session will be finalized and posted later this week.
