Official Public Notice: Road Closures and City Service Updates for March 8

Community Traffic Advisories and Road Closures

The City of Orlando and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) have issued several traffic notices affecting travel on Sunday, March 8, 2026. Residents and visitors are advised to plan for delays or seek alternate routes in the following areas:

  • I-4 at Central Florida Parkway: A scheduled overnight closure of Central Florida Parkway under I-4 begins Sunday, March 8, at 11:00 p.m. and will conclude by 6:30 a.m. the following morning. During this window, bridge work will prohibit left turns from the I-4 eastbound exit ramp.
  • Colonialtown Infrastructure Projects: The intersection of North Fern Creek Avenue and Oregon Street remains closed as part of ongoing utility and road improvements. This closure is expected to continue through mid-March.
  • College Park and Downtown: Summerlin Avenue at Livingston Street remains inaccessible to through traffic due to construction. Additionally, Brookhaven Drive is closed from Alden Road to east of the current development project at The Yard at Brookhaven.
  • Creative Village Access: Southbound Putnam Avenue remains closed between Amelia Street and Federal Street for the Beacon at Creative Village project.

Administrative Notices and Public Funding Deadlines

The City of Orlando’s Housing and Community Development Department has released official notices regarding federal funding opportunities. Nonprofit organizations and community partners are reminded of the following critical dates:

  • CDBG Funding: The pre-application deadline for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding is Friday, March 13, 2026. These funds are designated for affordable housing, economic development, and services for low-to-moderate-income residents.
  • Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG): Final applications for ESG and CDBG programs must be submitted via the city's official portal by 5:00 p.m. on March 27, 2026.
  • Special Magistrates Solicitation: The Orange County Value Adjustment Board (VAB) is currently seeking qualified attorney and appraiser Special Magistrates for the 2026 tax year. The application window officially opens Monday, March 9, 2026.

Public Health and Safety Reminders

Local health officials remind residents that March marks the beginning of the spring allergy season in Central Florida. High pollen counts from oak and other native trees are expected throughout the week. Residents with respiratory sensitivities are encouraged to monitor local air quality reports. Additionally, the City continues to emphasize standard safety protocols in all public facilities, including following posted hygiene instructions and observing right-of-way safety in active construction zones.

Upcoming Public Meetings

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Orlando City Council will take place on Monday, March 16, 2026, at City Hall. Residents interested in participating in the public comment portion of the meeting may register in advance through the City Clerk’s office. The Orange County Board of County Commissioners will convene for a regular session on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.
