- Historic Preservation Board: A hybrid meeting is scheduled for today at Orlando City Hall. Current Road Closures and Traffic Advisories
The City of Orlando has several active construction projects impacting local traffic. Drivers are advised to plan alternative routes and observe all posted detour signage:
- Downtown and Creative Village: Church Street remains closed from Tampa Avenue to Rio Grande Avenue as part of the ongoing Camping World Stadium reimagining project. This closure is expected to persist through mid-2027. Additionally, Southbound Putnam Avenue is closed between Amelia Street and Federal Street.
- Wadeview Park and Colonialtown: Muriel Street is currently closed between South Orange Avenue and Delaney Avenue for infrastructure improvements. In Colonialtown North, Fox Street is closed between McCullogh Avenue and Bennett Road through the end of February.
- Summerlin Avenue: Traffic remains restricted on Summerlin Avenue at two locations: between Livingston Street and Ridgewood Street, and between South Street and Church Street.
Public Health and Environmental Alerts
The Florida Department of Health in Orange County has issued several advisories currently in effect for the Orlando area:
- Blue-Green Algae Caution: A health caution remains in place for Lake Gatlin (West Shore) following the detection of blue-green algae. Residents and visitors are advised to avoid swimming, wading, or using watercraft in areas where blooms are visible, as toxins may be present.
- Cold Weather Preparedness: Following the recent extreme cold front and record-breaking low temperatures earlier this week, the Division of Emergency Management continues to advise residents to practice cold weather safety. Please ensure that the "four P’s"—People, Pets, Plants, and Pipes—are protected as temperatures remain unseasonably low.
Waste and Recycling Services
Residents are reminded that the new curbside collection schedule for unincorporated Orange County is now in full effect. Under this system, recycling and yard waste are collected on a separate day from garbage and large items to improve collection efficiency. All items must be placed at the curb by 6:00 a.m. on your designated service day to ensure pickup. Please check the official city or county service map to verify your specific collection window.
