Several significant road closures and construction projects are currently active throughout the city. Motorists should plan for potential delays and follow all posted detour signs:

  • Magnolia Avenue: Improvement projects remain active between Livingston Street and Jefferson Street, with a scheduled completion date in early March.
  • East Muriel Street: Sanitary sewer repairs continue between South Orange Avenue and Delaney Avenue, with closures expected to last through February 28.

Health and Environmental Advisories

The Florida Department of Health in Orange County (DOH-Orange) maintains a standing health alert for Lake Killarney due to the presence of blue-green algae toxins. Residents and visitors are advised to avoid contact with the water in areas where algae blooms are visible. Specifically, individuals should not swim, boat, or allow pets to drink from the lake until the alert is officially lifted. Additionally, a health caution remains in effect for Lake Gatlin (West Shore) and Lake Bessie (North Shore) regarding similar algal activities.

Community Events

The City of Orlando, in partnership with the Islamic Center of Orlando, will host the 8th Annual Ramadan Interfaith Iftar Dinner today, February 26, at 5:00 PM. The event takes place at City Hall and celebrates the diversity of the local community. Parking is available at the City Commons Parking Garage on Boone Avenue. While RSVP is encouraged, the public is welcome to participate in this gathering focused on reflection and fellowship.
