Lane Closures on US 441 and Nightly Resurfacing on SR 436 Impact Thursday Commute

Orlando Traffic Outlook for Thursday, February 26, 2026
Commuters heading through the Pine Hills area and those utilizing major state roads tonight should prepare for significant lane shifts and closures. With multiple Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) projects reaching critical phases this week, today’s commute requires extra vigilance, particularly on the western and northern sides of the city. While morning traffic is moving steadily on the major expressways, localized roadworks are expected to cause stacking during the peak morning and evening hours.
Daytime Impacts: US 441 and City Street Closures
The most immediate concern for daytime drivers is on US 441 (Orange Blossom Trail). Starting at 8:00 a.m. and continuing through 5:30 p.m., motorists should expect single southbound lane closures at the intersections of North Pine Hills Road and Beggs Road. These closures are necessary for ongoing drill shaft work. Additionally, trail construction at the same intersection has resulted in a continuous westbound lane closure on Beggs Road that will persist throughout the day. In East Orlando, construction activity was also reported this morning at the intersection of SR 551 (Goldenrod Road) and Hoffner Avenue, which may cause minor delays for those heading toward the airport.
In downtown-adjacent neighborhoods, several long-term closures remain in effect today:
- Muriel Street: Fully closed between South Orange Avenue and Delaney Avenue in Wadeview Park through the end of the month.
- Fern Creek Avenue: The intersection at Oregon Street in Colonialtown remains closed for utility and infrastructure improvements.
- Brookhaven Drive: Closed from Alden Road to the construction site near Virginia Avenue as part of the Yard at Brookhaven project.
Evening and Overnight Roadworks
If your commute extends into the late evening, be aware of widespread resurfacing and paving operations starting after the evening rush. Significant activity is scheduled for the following corridors:
- SR 436 (Semoran Blvd): Alternating single and double-lane closures will occur in both directions between US 441 and the Seminole County Line starting at 8:30 p.m. to allow for milling and resurfacing.
- US 17-92 at Enterprise Road: Nightly paving will cause alternating inside and outside lane closures from 9:00 p.m. through 7:00 a.m. Friday morning.
- US 192: Intermittent westbound lane closures near Emory Avenue are scheduled from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. for road maintenance.
Public Transport and Rail Updates
For those relying on public transit, Lynx has announced that the Board of Directors meeting previously scheduled for today, February 26, has been canceled. However, several service alerts remain active for riders. Links 1, 9, 43, and 102 are currently operating with temporary bus stop changes due to construction. Additionally, Link 426 continues to follow a detour due to the San Lorenzo Road closure.
SunRail continues to operate its full weekday schedule, including the late-night trains added in December to support evening travelers. While no major mechanical delays are reported this morning, passengers are reminded that the service is running at a slower pace between the Kissimmee and Tupperware stations due to recent corridor maintenance. Transit officials advise arriving at station platforms at least 10 minutes prior to scheduled departures to account for minor timing adjustments implemented system-wide.
