Morning Commute Overview

Orlando commuters should prepare for a mix of construction-related delays and transit adjustments this Friday, January 23, 2026. While the weather remains favorable with sunny skies and temperatures climbing toward a high of 78 degrees, several major surface streets and public transit routes are experiencing significant changes that may affect your travel time.

Major Roadwork and Lane Closures

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has several active projects impacting key arteries today. Motorists should be particularly mindful of the following areas:

  • U.S. 441 (Orange Blossom Trail): Northbound single-lane closures continue from S.R. 414 to Beggs Road for ongoing trail work. These closures are active from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Additionally, motorists can expect continuous northbound lane closures between Beggs Road and the S.R. 414 ramps, which have reduced this section to a single lane through the spring.
  • S.R. 434 and S.R. 436: Overnight lane closures and detours at this busy intersection are scheduled to continue through January 27. If you are traveling late this evening, expect shifts in traffic patterns.
  • U.S. 27: Nightly lane closures at the Dal Hall intersection for signalization and widening work are concluding today, but morning travelers may still encounter residual equipment or shifts near the work zone.
  • U.S. 1 (S.R. 5): Intermittent single-lane and shoulder closures are in effect between S.R. 46 and the Brevard/Volusia County Line until 4:00 p.m.

City of Orlando Local Closures

In the downtown and surrounding neighborhoods, several local road closures remain in place:

  • Pearson Avenue: Today marks the scheduled completion of the closure in Lake Nona South between Rodbell Street and Dulbecco Street.
  • Summerlin Avenue: Sections at both Livingston Street and South Street remain closed for construction.
  • Camping World Stadium Area: Church Street is closed from Tampa Avenue to Rio Grande Avenue as part of the ongoing stadium reimagining project.
  • Muriel Street: The stretch between South Orange Avenue and Delaney Avenue remains closed through the end of the month.

Public Transportation Updates

Commuters using LYNX should double-check their routes, as the system-wide service changes that took effect on January 11 are now fully integrated. Notably, Links 34, 45, 46E, 46W, 103, and 434 have been discontinued. Route and schedule adjustments are also active for Links 1, 23, 102, and both 436N and 436S.

For SunRail riders, the "Winter Express" schedule remains in operation. This adds flexibility for evening travel, including a northbound departure from Poinciana at 8:45 p.m. and a late-night southbound train leaving DeLand at 9:55 p.m., catering to those attending events at the Kia Center or downtown dining.
