Colorado Rapids end preseason by beating Orlando City 4-1 in member-exclusive scrimmage in Orlando

Rapids strike early and often in Orlando preseason finale
The Colorado Rapids closed their 2026 preseason schedule with a 4-1 win over Orlando City SC on Saturday, Feb. 14, in a scrimmage played at Inter&Co Stadium that was open exclusively to Orlando City season ticket members.
Colorado’s scoring came from three different players, led by a two-goal performance from striker Rafael Navarro. The Rapids also received second-half goals from forward Darren Yapi and defender Lucas Herrington, turning the match into their most productive attacking outing of the preseason.
How the goals were scored
Navarro opened the scoring in the 19th minute after being picked out by Paxten Aaronson. Colorado doubled its advantage before halftime when Yapi assisted Navarro again, setting up the forward’s second goal in the 37th minute.
In the second half, Yapi added a goal of his own in the 63rd minute, continuing a preseason in which he has been involved both as a scorer and provider. Herrington completed the Rapids’ scoring later in the half, heading in a corner kick delivered by Aaronson for his first goal with the club.
- Colorado goals: Rafael Navarro (19’, 37’), Darren Yapi (63’), Lucas Herrington (79’)
- Orlando City goals: 1 (details not released in the match summary)
Lineup notes and player involvement
Colorado’s reported starting group included goalkeeper Zack Steffen; defenders Keegan Rosenberry, Noah Cobb, Herrington and Jackson Travis; midfielders Josh Atencio and Hamzat Ojediran; and attackers Yapi, Aaronson, Dante Sealy and Navarro. Colorado also listed Nico Hansen, Bryce Jamison and Mamadou Billo Diop among the available substitutes, with Rosenberry and Ojediran noted as second-half changes.
What it means heading into the regular season
The match served as Orlando City’s final preseason tune-up ahead of its MLS regular-season opener at home on Saturday, Feb. 21, against the New York Red Bulls at Inter&Co Stadium (7:30 p.m. ET).
For Colorado, the result closes a preseason that ended with momentum in front of an Orlando crowd, while also underscoring Navarro’s finishing form and Aaronson’s role in creating chances. The Rapids are scheduled to open their 2026 MLS campaign on Sunday, Feb. 22, at Seattle Sounders FC at Lumen Field (7:15 p.m. MT), the first competitive match under head coach Matt Wells, who joined the club in December 2025.
