Official Holiday Notice: Presidents’ Day Closures

In observance of Presidents’ Day on Monday, February 16, 2026, the City of Orlando has announced several adjustments to municipal operations. All City Hall offices and non-essential administrative facilities will be closed throughout the day. Normal business hours are scheduled to resume on Tuesday, February 17.

  • Residential Garbage Collection: There will be no residential garbage, recycling, or yard waste collection on Monday. All services for Monday residents will be delayed by one day, taking place on Tuesday. Residents scheduled for Tuesday collection will see their service move to Wednesday, and this one-day shift will continue through the remainder of the week.
  • Parking: On-street parking meters will not be enforced on the holiday, though all other parking regulations, including fire hydrant and unauthorized zone restrictions, remain in effect.

Public Hearing: 2026-2030 Consolidated Plan

The City of Orlando will host a critical public hearing today, Monday, February 16, 2026, to gather community input for the development of the 2026-2030 Consolidated Plan and the FY 2026-27 Action Plan. This session is designed to identify housing and community development needs for low- and moderate-income residents.

  • Time: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • Location: Fairview Room, 9th Floor, Orlando City Hall (400 South Orange Avenue).
  • Focus Areas: The workshop will cover federal funding allocations, including the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnerships, and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) programs aimed at strengthening neighborhoods and addressing homelessness.

Traffic Alert: SR 408 and Local Roadway Updates

Motorists should anticipate significant nighttime construction activity and local project milestones effective today. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is implementing the following advisories:

  • SR 408 to I-4 Loop Ramp: An overnight closure of the eastbound State Road 408 off-ramp to eastbound Interstate 4 (Exit 10B) will begin tonight at 8:00 p.m. and last until 6:00 a.m. Tuesday morning. Drivers are detoured to take Exit 10A to westbound I-4, exit at Michigan Street (Exit 81), and follow signage to re-enter I-4 eastbound.
  • Bumby Avenue: The long-term safety improvement project between Jamie Circle and Weber Street is scheduled for completion today. Roadway segments are expected to fully reopen to traffic by 12:00 p.m.
  • Lake Highland Drive: Portions of Lake Highland Drive between Highland Avenue and Ferris Avenue remain closed for the Lift Station 2 Force Main Project. This closure includes the adjacent section of the Urban Trail and is expected to persist through the summer.

Water Conservation: Mandatory Winter Schedule

The City of Orlando remains under mandatory winter watering restrictions. Residents are reminded that landscape irrigation is limited to one day per week during Eastern Standard Time. Compliance is essential to preserve regional aquifer levels.

  • Odd-numbered addresses: Saturdays only.
  • Even-numbered or no addresses: Sundays only.
  • Non-residential properties: Tuesdays only.
  • Prohibited Hours: Watering is strictly prohibited between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to prevent evaporation loss. Violations may result in fines ranging from $25 to $1,000.
