Official Public Meetings and Legislative Updates

For Tuesday, February 24, 2026, the City of Orlando has scheduled two primary public meetings. Mayor Buddy Dyer will convene with District 1 Commissioner Tom Keen for a formal in-person meeting at City Hall to discuss district-specific projects and municipal priorities. Residents are also advised that the Board of Zoning Adjustment (BZA) is holding a hybrid meeting today at 2:00 p.m. to review applications for land use variances and zoning exceptions. Those interested in participating can attend in person at the City Council Chambers or join virtually via the city’s official teleconferencing links.

Traffic and Roadway Infrastructure Advisories

Motorists navigating the downtown and north-central corridors should be prepared for several active construction zones and lane shifts:

  • Orange Blossom Trail (U.S. 441): Northbound intermittent single-lane closures remain in effect overnight (8 p.m. to 6 a.m.) north of John Young Parkway for ongoing drill shaft operations. Additional widening work north of Shader Road will cause similar intermittent closures through February 26.
  • Neighborhood Road Closures: Ongoing utility and rehabilitation projects continue to impact local traffic. Muriel Street in Wadeview Park remains closed between South Orange Avenue and Delaney Avenue through the end of February. In Colonialtown, the intersection of North Fern Creek Avenue and Oregon Street also remains closed for long-term construction.
  • U.S. 441 Continuous Closures: A continuous northbound lane closure is active on U.S. 441 from Beggs Road to the S.R. 414 ramps. This project is expected to continue through April 2026 to facilitate major water main installations and excavation.

Health and Community Service Announcements

The Florida Department of Health has issued a notice regarding a proposed rule change for the AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP). This proposal seeks to adjust income eligibility requirements and insurance premium assistance for the program. A 21-day public comment period is currently open, and residents, healthcare providers, and community organizations are encouraged to submit feedback or request a public hearing before the March 4, 2026, deadline.

Additionally, the City of Orlando Housing and Community Development Department is currently soliciting proposals for the Program Year 2026-2027 federal funding allocations. Non-profit organizations serving low- to moderate-income residents are invited to participate in the application process for Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) and Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG). The pre-application deadline for these funds is Friday, March 13, 2026.

Residents are also reminded to follow state health guidance regarding immunizations following reports of regional measles cases earlier this month. The Florida Department of Health continues to encourage families to verify their vaccination status to prevent further community transmission.
