Official City Government Meetings

Residents are advised of several key public meetings scheduled for today, Thursday, March 19, 2026. These meetings allow for public input on local housing, urban design, and community development. Unless otherwise noted, these sessions are held in a hybrid format, allowing for both in-person and virtual attendance.

  • Orlando Housing Authority (OHA) Board Meeting: The Board of Commissioners of the Housing Authority will meet with OHA Properties, Inc. at 2:00 p.m. This meeting is held at the OHA Administration Building located at 390 North Bumby Avenue. Members of the public can also join via Microsoft Teams or by phone using the conference ID 131 067 047#.
  • Affordable Housing Advisory Committee: This committee is scheduled for a hybrid meeting today to discuss ongoing strategies for expanding housing accessibility within city limits.
  • Appearance Review Board: The board will review applications for downtown development and design compliance. This hybrid meeting is part of the city's commitment to maintaining aesthetic and structural standards for new construction.

Public Health Advisory: Turkey Lake Alert

The City of Orlando’s Streets and Stormwater Division maintains an active Lake Alert for Turkey Lake as of today, March 19, 2026. This advisory was initiated following a reported sanitary sewer overflow near 2207 Lake Debra Drive. An estimated 2,800 gallons of sewage entered the storm drain system due to a blockage caused by fats, oils, and grease within the piping.

City personnel have placed warning signs in the affected areas. Residents and visitors are urged to cease all water contact activities—including swimming, fishing, and irrigation—at Turkey Lake and its associated retention ponds until further notice. Water quality testing for E. coli counts is currently underway, and the advisory will remain in effect until the water meets state safety standards.

Infrastructure and Roadway Updates

Several significant roadway projects are impacting traffic patterns in the Orlando area today. Motorists are encouraged to plan for extra travel time and follow all posted detours.

  • Alba Drive Closure: In College Park, Alba Drive remains closed to all through traffic between Ellwood Avenue and Westmoreland Drive. This emergency closure is necessary for paver repairs and is expected to continue through Friday, March 20.
  • Summerlin Avenue Improvement Project: Phase I of the Summerlin Avenue project is currently active. The stretch between Livingston Street and Harwood Street is closed for utility upgrades and underground pipe replacement. This major infrastructure project is expected to continue for several months, with the intersection of Summerlin and Harwood remaining open to facilitate local traffic.
  • State Road 408 Enhancements: Ongoing work by the Central Florida Expressway Authority continues on SR 408 between Church Street and Interstate 4. Drivers should be aware of shifting lanes as crews work on the fifth eastbound lane expansion.

For additional information regarding these notices, citizens may contact the City Clerk’s office at 407-246-2251 or visit City Hall at 400 South Orange Avenue during standard business hours.
