Special Event Permits and Assemblies
Several large-scale public assemblies and festivals have been permitted for today. Increased pedestrian traffic and localized noise from amplified sound should be expected at the following locations:
- Festival Independencia de la Republica Dominicana: Held at Southport Park today from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The event includes temporary structures and vending.
- Dragon Parade: Taking place in the 1201 N. Mills Avenue area. Residents should anticipate localized traffic delays during the parade route duration.
- For the Love of Food: Foodie Fest: Active at the Emery Hamilton Sports Complex today until 8:00 p.m.
- Lake Nona Art Festival: The final day of the festival is taking place at Lake Nona Town Center, featuring local artists and temporary street crossings.
Road Construction and Traffic Advisories
The following road closures and utility projects remain active and may impact Sunday travel:
- Summerlin Avenue Improvement Project: Summerlin Avenue remains closed between South Street and Church Street for critical underground utility replacement. This closure is part of a multi-month infrastructure upgrade and is expected to continue through the spring.
- Hillcrest Street and Summerlin Avenue: The intersection remains closed as part of the ongoing drainage and roadway restoration project. Detours are in place via East Colonial Drive and Hyer Avenue.
- Muriel Street (Wadeview Park): A full closure remains in effect between South Orange Avenue and Delaney Avenue for a construction road project, scheduled through late February.
